Barossa Arts Festival Exhibition & Meet the Artist

As part of The Barossa Arts Festival Jacob's Creek Cellar Door has two very talented artists in residence for the month of April. Be allured by the captivating artworks created by the renowned Garry Duncan, all while exploring Daniel Toonen's immersive sculpture trail. 

During the festival you will have the opportunity to meet both Garry and Daniel who will be at the cellar door on Sunday the 7th of April from 12 pm to 3 pm.

Meet the Artists 

Garry Duncan 

Although Garry is mostly known for his paintings of the Australian landscape, particularly the River Murray, his art practice extends over a wide range of art forms and mediums, including conceptual design and sculpture.

As well as participating in many exhibitions here and overseas, Garry has also undertaken a number of large public artwork projects both as sole artist and leading a group.

The environment is a dominant influence on Garry's work. Much of his inspiration is drawn from our natural surrounds - the intrinsic designs, shapes and colours.

Garry, like all serious artists, creates because it is an essential element of who he is, but he also creates work which is deliberately accessible, and which connects with people beyond the first impression.

Daniel Toonen from Rockstar Creations

Daniel Toonen is an accomplished sculptor and stonemason whose passion for his craft has driven him to the forefront of the industry. With a career spanning over two decades, Daniel has firmly established himself as an eminent sculptor and stonemason. While Daniel’s journey as a sculpture began in the construction industry with stonemasonary, it’s his background as a mechanic that infuses his work with a unique ingenuity. Drawing upon these mechanical skills, he devises inventive solutions that elevate his commissioned pieces to extraordinary heights.

Daniel’s meticulous approach and unwavering commitment to excellence set him apart as a sculptor. With acute attention to detail, his craftsmanship surpasses expectations, creating unrivalled stonework in quality and precision.
